Cllr. Michael Withers has lived in St.Annes and Ansdell since 1963, attending St. Thomas Primary and King Edward Vll Grammar schools in the borough. He now lives in Park Ward with his wife Rosie, they have three grown-up boys and three grandchildren.
He was an active member of St. Annes Tennis and Squash Club for many years but Cllr. Withers now confines his sporting activities to Fairhaven Golf Club, where he has been a member for 12 years, following 9 years at Green Drive Golf Club. With a keen interest in politics, he joined the Conservative Party in 1987 and was on the Park Ward committee in the 1990’s.
Elected to Fylde Borough Council in 2019 representing Park Ward, Cllr Withers sits on the Finance and Democracy and the Town Centre Development committees.
In 1982 Mike established the first of what grew to become a group of four companies with offices in Fylde, Hong Kong, China and the USA, he calculates that he has employed more than two thousand people in that time. He is able to bring this extensive business experience to his role as a councillor and hopes that the residents of Park Ward will give him the opportunity to continue that work at the forthcoming election.
I believe that Fylde is a jewel in the crown of England. I have lived here almost all my life, and want to preserve and develop the area for future generations.
