Steve Butler was born and raised in the Fylde. The Butler family came to farm Preese Hall Farm on the borders of Singleton and Weeton in 1863, and have lived in the area ever since. His Great Grandfather farmed at Elswick Grange Farm where his Grandmother was born; his great Aunt Mary played the organ at Elswick Church for over 50 years. He attended Weeton St Michael’s School in the days when Weeton and Singleton Schools had to combine to have enough boys to field a football team for the local inter schools cup! Further education followed and other than a brief period away, Steve has always worked and lived in Greenhalgh.
He is involved in the family business of agricultural and industrial engineering along with a reduced farming operation. Steve is a past committee member of the Fylde Country life Preservation Society and is currently a Trustee of the Kings Royal Hussars Regimental Museum collection (previously held in the Museum of Lancashire) along with being an active Regimental Association member.
Steve serves on Weeton Field day Committee and is a member of Weeton St Michael’s church PCC. Along with being a Board member of RIDBA (Rural and Industrial Design and Building Association) he has previously been involved in the staging of Great Eccleston Show and various vintage shows around the Fylde. His Great Grandfather was past Chairman and founder member of Fylde Rural District Council and his Uncle has also previously served as a Borough Councillor for 20+ years.
Steve has a great interest in local issues and is well placed to transfer his skills to representing your needs and views for the ward of Rural North Fylde.
