I was elected as a Fylde Councillor for Ansdell in 2011 after 22 years as Headteacher of Ansdell Primary School. I have worked tirelessly with the Conservative team of councillors to improve the facilities and infrastructure of Ansdell and the wider Fylde community. This has included delivering £500,000 of improvements to Woodlands Road Centre and funding for new sea defences on Granny’s Bay and Church Scar. Recently I have helped to deliver Fylde Council shop improvement grants for local businesses and tree planting schemes throughout the ward.
I am Honorary Chairman of the Friends of Ansdell Library, campaigning successfully to keep the library open and I help to organise local events including Ansdell Christmas Lights Switch On. I have worked hard to improve local playground facilities and been an active member of Ansdell Heritage Trail Group. Ensuring the continuation of a bus service for Ansdell Centre has also been a priority as has being fully supportive of key community groups such as Ansdell in Bloom, Friends of Ansdell Institute and Friends of Ansdell and Fairhaven Station. I also know how important the work of the Friends of Fairhaven Lake and Gardens is to our Ansdell and Fairhaven community.
I serve on Fylde Council as Vice Chairman of Planning, Chairman of the Town Centres Working Group for Lytham and St Anne’s and on the Informal Leadership Board, Finance and Democracy Committee, M55 Link Road Project Group and Education Liaison Group.
I am an active member of St Paul’s Church Ansdell and Fairhaven and enjoy local walks particularly along our wonderfulcoast. Married to Sheila, we have two daughters who both attended Ansdell Primary and Lytham St Annes High Schools.
I am determined to ensure the vibrancy and community identity of Ansdell and Fairhaven is maintained and all
parts of our newly formed ward flourish.
